K-12 Physical Education Philosophy and Goals
Philosophy
The K-12 physical education program at Gothenburg Public Schools focuses on the needs of a young person’s physical development. The staff, realizing the importance of physical development, strives to keep children active for a life time of good health.
With this in mind, the mission of our physical education program is to provide a quality physical education program to help all students develop positive attitudes about physical activity so that they can adopt healthy and physically active lifestyles. A quality physical education program is important because it will provide learning experiences that meet students’ developmental needs, which in turn helps to improve their mental alertness, academic performance, and readiness and enthusiasm for learning.
